Well now! This is my first attempt to put a photo on a "Blog" and it is a photo of our beautiful bay here in Luperon. This might help you boaters find your way in! I guess that boater's are not the "Blogging" type of people. For some reason I can't get anyone interested in "Blogging" on my "Blog" site. This bay, by the way, on the north shore of the Dominican Republic, is one of the very best hurricane protected harbours in the Caribbean. So, if you are going to be caught in a hurricane, make sure you are caught in Luperon Bay! On the map we are just a short distance from Puerto Plata.

Hello Luperon Boater,
That's kind of a long handle; do you mind if I assign you an easier name? How about Gil?
Gil, I'm surprised that no one has yet responded to your blog. Luperon is certainly an interesting place, especially for sailors as it has warm weather in the winter and yet is comparatively safe from hurricanes in the summer and fall.
Last time I was there, Luperon was very inexpensive, though it didn't have a lot in the way of services that a sailor would need--either passing through, or choosing Luperon for a home-port away from home-port. While I can find lots of information about big tourist projects for Luperon, I don't find any information on the current sailboat cruising situation. Perhaps a way to attract interest in your blog would be to give updates for sailors who might consider Luperon as a port of call, or for a longer stay. Let me ask a few questions.
What are the current services at Luperon? is it still a DR port-of-entry? how long may one anchor in the bay? and are there moorings that one can tie to instead of anchoring? are there marinas with floats available? are there any haul-out or emergency repair facilities? are there still people (locals or sailors in residence) who can repair engines, do fiberglass work, do canvas work?
I understand that there is now a very well-regarded yacht brokerage operating out of Luperon; how many sailboats have been bought and sold there, and is Luperon now a good place to either look for a sailboat to buy or to take one to put up for sale?
Hope this helps to get your blog moving.
Good morning everyone... You all must realize that I am a "Newbie" when it comes to this "Blogging" stuff. I did manage to put a photo here on this Blog Spot once before but I forget how I did that... Can anyone help me? I will put more photos here if I can find out how to do it again! Thanks. Gil.
